United States President Donald Trump on Friday announced that date and venue for historic face-to-face meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will be announced "very soon".

"We now have a date. And we have a location. We'll be announcing it very soon," the Hill reported Trump as saying from the White House lawn.

Trump predicted "very good things" from the upcoming meeting.

The Trump-Kim meet will be the first of its kind as it is the first meet between a US president and a North Korean leader since the end of the Korean War.

The two sides are likely to discuss the possible denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

According to a report, Trump on Friday said the US remains in "constant contact with North Korea" ahead of a planned summit with despotic Korean leader and stated that the presence of US troops in the Korean Peninsula is not on the table.
