Just a few hours after the Delhi police on Monday accused Shashi Tharoor of abetting the suicide of his wife Sunanda Pushkar, the senior Congress leader took to Twitter to inform that he has decided to stay off the microblogging site for a while. Tharoor, who is known for his inimitable wit and grammar eloquence, tweeted that he will "stay off Twitter for a while as one encounters too much epicaricacy!" Epicaricacy, as described by Tharoor means, deriving pleasures from the misfortune of others.

Tharoor also said that he is trying to focus on his work “while others relish their distractions”. In a bid to deny his alleged involvement in the killing of his wife Sunanda Pushkar, Shashi Tharoor dubbed the chargesheet as "preposterous" on Twitter. The Congress leader added that he "intends to contest it vigorously".

This comes after, the Delhi Police on Monday accused Shashi Tharoor of abetting the suicide of his wife Sunanda Pushkar and told a city court that his custodial interrogation was necessary as investigation was yet to be concluded.
Earlier in the day, the police filed a nearly 3,000-page charge sheet in the court, naming Tharoor as the only person as accused in the case and claiming that there was enough evidence to proceed against him. The police has also alleged that Tharoor had subjected his wife to cruelty.
