Maruti Suzuki, the country’s biggest car maker, showcased its Concept Future-S car at the opening day of the Auto Expo here. The compact vehicle, with its SUV stance, will compete against Renault’s most successful product in the country, the Kwid, as well as the KUV100 from the house of Mahindra.

Launched in 2015, the Renault Kwid has seen sales of over 200,000 units, making it one of the most successful small cars in recent years. At one point, the Kwid was seen as a strong competition to Maruti’s Alto. However, the Kwid volumes have come under pressure of late. It is believed that Maruti Suzuki worked on this Concept Future-S after the success of Kwid.

Maruti Suzuki opens bookings for all new Dzire

Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has commenced bookings for its all-new Dzire compact sedan at over 2,000 dealerships across the country.

The company, which has till date sold 13.81 lakh units of the model in India since its launch in March 2008, will roll out an all-new version of the compact sedan on May 16.

The booking amount of the new model is Rs 11,000. Although the company will announce the price range at the time of the launch, the existing model range is tagged between Rs 5.35 lakh and Rs 8.57 lakh.

The model will compete with Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo. These models are priced in the range of Rs 4.7 lakh to Rs 8.41 lakh.

Dzire has been a roaring success for MSI and has been instrumental in making the company a strong player in the entry sedan segment.

The model has been contributing to around 50 per cent of vehicle sales in the compact sedan segment.

During the last fiscal, Dzire occupied the third slot in the top ten list of passenger vehicles with sale of 1,99,878 units. It was the second best selling model among the passenger vehicles in 2015-16.

Its nearest rival Hyundai Xcent sold 47,614 units during the last fiscal.

Last full model change of the Dzire happened in February 2012. Last year, the company launched the compact sedan with auto gear shift (AGS) technology.

Honda's new City priced at Rs 8.5 lakh to battle it out with Maruti's Ciaz

Latest News - Japanese auto major Honda on Tuesday launched the new upgraded version of its best selling sedan City in India priced at between Rs 8.5 lakh and Rs 13.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) with an aim to regain top slot from rival Maruti Suzuki's Ciaz.
"With the launch of the Honda City 2017, we aim to exceed our customers' expectations by offering value at a very competitive price. I am confident that with the new City we will regain our leadership position in the segment," Honda Cars India President and CEO Yoichiro Ueno told reporters here.
The new City will be available in both petrol and diesel options.
The petrol variant is powered by a 1.5 litre engine and is priced between Rs 8.5 lakh and (Read More)
