Donald Trump attacks Washington Post, calls it Amazon's 'chief lobbyist'

US President Donald Trump called the Washington Post the "chief lobbyist" for Amazon.com Inc on Thursday, repeating his unsubstantiated attack on the newspaper.

The newspaper is privately owned by Jeff Bezos, the founder and chief executive officer of the online retailer. Amazon does not own the Post.

Trump regularly lashes out against what he perceives as critical articles in the Post as well as the New York Times and CNN. On Thursday he took issue with a story headline in the Post on China retaliating with trade penalties against U.S. products.

"The Fake News Washington Post, Amazon's 'chief lobbyist,' has another (of many) phony headlines," Trump said on Twitter.

Amazon and the Washington Post did not immediately respond to requests for a comment.

Last weekend Trump called the Washington Post a lobbyist for Amazon in a tweet. Martin Baron, the Washington Post's executive editor, rejected the accusation.

Trump attacks AG, challenges him to probe Obama over Russia interference

Jeff Sessions

President Donald Trump has attacked his own attorney general Jeff Sessions, challenging him to launch an investigation into the Obama administration for failing to do enough to stop the alleged Russian interference into the 2016 elections.

Trump in a tweet yesterday questioned why the Obama administration did not do more to counter Russian meddling in the presidential elections.

"Question: If all of the Russian meddling took place during the Obama Administration, right up to January 20th, why aren't they the subject of the investigation? Why didn't Obama do something about the meddling? Why aren't Dem crimes under investigation? Ask Jeff Sessions!" Trump tweeted.
It is the latest instance of the president publicly criticising federal law enforcement.

In recent months, Trump has become more critical of federal law enforcement and has called senior officials at the FBI biased against him.

Gun control in US: Trump recommends ban on bump stocks used for weapons

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday recommended a ban on 'bump stocks' gun devices.

He also directed his Attorney General, Jeff Sessions to make the proposed changes in the country's gun control law, in the wake of the last week's school shooting at a Florida high school.

"Just a few moments ago I signed a memo directing the attorney general Sessions to propose regulations that ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns. I expect these regulations to be finalized very soon," Trump said.

The bump-stock gun modification was used in the Las Vegas shooting incident, which occurred in October last year. It claimed 58 lives and injured more than 500 people. It was the deadliest attack to ever take place on US soil, since the 9/11 attacks in 2001, the CNN reported.
